A Beginner's Guide to Starting Yoga in Abu Dhabi
Not sure where to start with yoga in Abu Dhabi? Here's everything you need to know - from choosing the right class to what to bring on your first day.
Launching today at 12PM, GST.

Walking into a new yoga class - or any fitness class, really - can trigger a surprising amount of anxiety. What if everyone else is more advanced? What if I can't keep up? What if I do something wrong?
We hear these concerns all the time, and we want to put them to rest. This is an honest walkthrough of what your first visit to Vila Ventures actually looks like - from arrival to savasana.
Once you've booked a class (you can do this directly from our website), you'll receive a confirmation with a few simple details: the session time, what to wear, and where to find us.
We suggest arriving about 10 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, fill out a brief wellness form, and have a quick chat with Vila about any injuries, concerns, or goals. This isn't a formality - it genuinely shapes how we guide you during class.
Our sessions take place in a calm, clean, intentionally simple space. No neon lights. No thumping playlist. Just natural light, soft tones, and enough room to move without bumping into your neighbor.
Mats and props (blocks, straps, bolsters) are provided, though you're welcome to bring your own. We keep our class sizes small - typically 6 to 10 people - so there's plenty of space and plenty of attention to go around.
Every session begins with a few minutes of grounding - seated breathing, a body scan, or a simple centering exercise. This transitions you from the pace of your day into the pace of the practice.
From there, Vila guides you through a sequence of poses, always explaining what you're doing and why. Modifications are offered throughout - not as an afterthought, but as a built-in part of every instruction. You'll hear phrases like "if this doesn't feel right, try this instead" more than you'll hear "push harder."
The class typically lasts 60 minutes and ends with savasana - a few minutes of complete stillness and rest. It's often people's favorite part.
There's no rush to leave. Many of our regulars stay for a few minutes afterward - to stretch, to chat, or simply to sit with how they feel. We often have herbal tea available, and Vila is always open for questions about what you experienced.
You might feel relaxed. You might feel energized. You might feel muscles you didn't know you had. All of that is completely normal.
We think it's just as important to be clear about what your experience won't include:
“The practice is about presence, not performance. You belong here from the moment you walk in.”
— Vila
Absolutely. Many of our students start with zero experience. Vila adapts every session to the people in the room, and beginners always receive extra guidance.
Comfortable, breathable clothing you can move in freely. Yoga is practiced barefoot, so no special shoes needed.
You can book directly through our website using the 'Book a Class' button. Choose a date and time that works for you, and you'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know.
